The twin-engine jet, manufactured in 2004, crashed on Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, in unincorporated Palm Beach County, near West Palm Beach and Greenacres. It was en route from Austin, Tex. to Eleuthera, in the Bahamas, and had been provided a heading direct toward Freeport, Bahamas โ off the coast of Palm Beach County โ prior to the crash. Filgueiras reported moderate turbulence before telling an air traffic controller the airplane had entered about a 60 degree bank with a negative vertical speed of 22,000 feet per minute. Severe thunderstorms had enveloped the area prior to the crash.
“Our hearts are with the families and loved ones whose lives have been forever changed by this unimaginable tragedy,” the statement also said.
