A Boca Raton man was arrested Oct. 28 on felony charges after authorities say he tried to force his way into a Boca Raton cannabis dispensary overnight earlier this month, damaging its doors.

Eliezer Goldstein, 27, was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief causing damage of $1,000 or more, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriffโ€™s Office arrest report. He was arrested at about 5:53 p.m. on Calibre Court in Boca Raton. Bond was listed at $5,000.

The report said the incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on Oct. 1 at the Sanctuary Cannabis medical marijuana dispensary, located at 21401 Powerline Road. A company employee told deputies he was alerted to suspicious activity and reviewed surveillance video that showed a man trying to force open the businessโ€™s side doors.

Investigators said the man arrived at about 1:15 a.m. in a white four-door compact SUV, parked on the west side of the property and walked up the handicap-accessible ramp to the entrance. The report said he pulled on the double doors, which opened only slightly, then pushed on them, kicked one and used his body weight in an apparent attempt to force them open. Business hours were posted on the door at about eye level, the report said. The man appeared to injure his hand during the attempts, then returned to the SUV and left, according to the report. Investigators did not say he got inside.

The business provided a repair quote of $1,948 for the doors, and company representatives told investigators they wanted to pursue prosecution.

Investigators said a witness who knew Goldstein from his apartment complex identified him from a short video clip and from his driverโ€™s license photo. Goldstein was being held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail for the burglary charge and $5,000 for the criminal mischief charge.
