Man Arrested For Fleeing Boca Raton Police, Trespassing on School Property

A 23-year-old man was arrested last week on charges of fleeing police and trespassing on school grounds in Boca Raton, as well as numerous motor vehicle-related counts.

Saleh Adel Bazzi, of Coral Springs, was taken into custody shortly after 7:38 p.m. on July 2 following an incident that began near the intersection of W. Palmetto Park Road and NW 4th Avenue. It ended in his arrest, as well as citations for  operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motorcycle without a required endorsement, according to a Boca Raton police report filed in court this week.

According to the report, an officer observed Bazzi riding a black E-Ride Pro electric motorcycle northbound on the sidewalk of Northwest 4th Avenue just north of W. Palmetto Park Road. The motorcycle had no license plate attached, and Bazzi was not wearing eye protection, police said. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop by activating emergency lights and sirens on a marked patrol vehicle, Bazzi allegedly looked toward the officers, hesitated briefly, then accelerated past them. He continued westbound on West Palmetto Park Road before turning right into the St. Paul Lutheran Church and School property located at 701 W. Palmetto Park Road.

Bazzi rode through the grass to enter the parking lot and then proceeded northbound toward the rear of the school, the report states. Officers located him at the rear of the property and detained him. Police determined he did not possess a valid motorcycle endorsement and that the electric motorcycle was unregistered. He also had “no legitimate business” on the school campus and no authorization to be there, according to the report.

Bazzi was arrested and transported to the Boca Raton Police Department for processing before being taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. He was in possession of a GoPro camera that was recording at the time of the incident; the camera was submitted as evidence, police said. He was later released after posting $3,750 bond.
