The driver of a Ferrari was allegedly caught racing on a major roadway in Boca Raton, fled pursuing police officers, but ultimately hit a curb to end the chase, authorities said.

Michael F. Bogdan, 48, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of alleged street racing and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, according to a Boca Raton police report filed in court this week. An officer conducting stationary radar enforcement near the 600 block of N. Federal Highway shortly after 8 p.m. on June 29 observed a gray four-door Ferrari and a black four-door vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, the report said. A lidar (laser) device confirmed the Ferrari traveling 67 mph in a 35 mph zone after rapidly accelerating.

The officer activated emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, but both vehicles allegedly failed to stop and continued at a high rate of speed. The vehicles turned westbound onto Glades Road, where they made multiple evasive maneuvers, including rapid acceleration, lane changes and crossing through an intersection, police said. The gray Ferrari driver allegedly failed to stop for a solid red arrow while turning left and later came to a stop partially on a sidewalk and curb after attempting to pull into a driveway, the report said.

Bogdan was identified as the driver of the Ferrari through his Florida driver’s license. He was placed into custody and transported first to Boca Raton police headquarters and later to the jail. He was released after posting $6,000 bond on the two charges.
