A Boca Raton man was arrested Sunday after authorities say he allegedly pointed a firearm at another person and threatened him during a dispute over a parking garage electric vehicle charger.
Beltessazar De Oliveira Almeida, 43, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and a misdemeanor charge of battery, according to a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody May 3, 2026, at the scene in the 20940 block of Uptown Avenue in unincorporated Boca Raton.
Deputies responded to a report of an aggravated assault around 6 p.m., the report said. The alleged victim told investigators he had unplugged what he believed was an improperly charging black Tesla in the parking garage and reconnected his aunt’s vehicle. He believed the connector had been removed from his aunt’s vehicle mid-charge and moved to another person’s car. According to the report, two young males then approached, and shortly afterward De Oliveira Almeida arrived, pushed the alleged victim aside, unplugged the other vehicle and reconnected his own.
The victim told deputies De Oliveira Almeida then pulled a firearm, pointed it at him and threatened to “shoot you in your face” if he did not leave the area. The man also allegedly struck the victim’s phone out of his hand while he was recording the encounter, the report states. At one point, De Oliveira Almeida is alleged to have handed the gun over to a juvenile, then took it back as the altercation drew on.
Investigators reviewed video from the victim’s phone that reportedly showed De Oliveira Almeida pointing the firearm and making the threats. The suspect’s vehicle remained in the garage initially, and deputies later made contact with De Oliveira Almeida as he drove out. A show-up identification was conducted, and he was detained, the report said. De Oliveira Almeida then told deputies he and his son had been charging the Tesla when they received a notification it had been unplugged. He said he approached the other man with a gun on his waist because he did not know who had tampered with the vehicle. He stated he felt threatened when the man walked toward him, told him to step back, and unplugged the other vehicle to reconnect his own.
No one was injured in the incident. De Oliveira Almeida was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released after posting a $16,000 combined bond for the three charges.
