A Boca Raton woman was charged with multiple criminal offenses Feb. 8, 2026 following an incident during which she allegedly lured another woman to an address, blocked in her vehicle, and sprayed her with mace.
Jennifer Montes, 37, was arrested over the weekend for the incident that occurred Jan. 24, 2026, according to a police report. In the report, filed by West Palm Beach police, officers described a call from a woman reporting that she had been assaulted and her vehicle damaged during an altercation she believed was a set-up. The victim told police she received a text message from a phone number she associated with her ex-boyfriend, asking her to come to a residence in West Palm Beach. She was “skeptical” of the message, officers said, and believed it may have been some kind of “trap.”
When the victim arrived, a white van pulled up and parked directly behind her, blocking her in, at which point the driver exited and approached her vehicle. The unknown female driver opened the driver’s side door and sprayed the victim with a chemical agent believed to be mace, the report stated. The victim said she was able to push the woman away and close her vehicle door, at which point the woman returned to her own car.
When the victim attempted to leave the area, the white van then “repositioned closer to block her vehicle from behind, which blocked the only escape route,” the report said. In an attempt to escape, the victim struck the white van with the rear of her vehicle, exacerbated by the fact she could not see due to the pepper spray. The white van then fled the scene.
When police found the victim, she was found “visibly distressed, with facial redness and continuous rubbing of her eyes.”
Police ultimately followed up with the victim’s ex-boyfriend during an unrelated investigation, which led them to identify Montes as the suspect in the altercation. The victim later identified Montes’ photograph in a lineup, according to the report.
Montes was charged with burglary with assault or battery; and false imprisonment due to allegedly preventing the victim from escaping. She was held in the Palm Beach County Jail for about two days before being released on $30,000 combined bond for the two charges.
