A 26-year-old woman has been charged with grand theft after allegedly stealing a shirt worth more than $750 from the Neiman Marcus store in the Boca Town Center mall.
Emerson Lee Dimond was detained by loss prevention officers at the high-end department store after being seen entering the second floor of the store with her small white dog and allegedly leaving with a big-budget blouse stuffed in her purse. Dimond’s hometown was unclear – police identified her using her Massachusetts driver’s license, however her address on the police report appeared to come back to a 7-Eleven store.
According to the report, the Jan. 13 incident occurred when Dimond allegedly took six items into a fitting room at the store at about 12:53 p.m. The items were pre-checked before she entered the room, the report said, and loss prevention officers were able to see her “conceal a tan blouse and hangar inside the large purse she was carrying” through a slated door. Dimond then allegedly emerged from the fitting room and returned five items to a clerk. The fitting room was then checked, and the sixth item was not there. The loss prevention officer confronted Dimond in the parking lot where she was apprehended.
Dimond declined to speak to police after they arrived. She was charged with grand theft of an item between $750 and $5,000, a felony, and was freed on $5,000 bond after spending about four hours at the Palm Beach County Jail.
