Boca Raton is seeking an artist or team of artists to create an “Ode to Boca” mural at the Mizner Park amphitheater as part of the city’s centennial celebration, based on input from everyday residents who submit their own poetry as inspiration.
The “Ode to Boca” mural will appear on the amphitheater’s large stage doors โ a 30-by-60 foot area for the grand project. The mural will draw from community-submitted Odes to Boca, short, five-line poems based on Boca Raton’s zip codes. According to an announcement from the city, the mural will “celebrate the cityโs identity, enhance the downtown area, and reflect Boca Ratonโs commitment to cultural enrichment and community storytelling.”
Currently, the amphitheater doors are decorated with a temporary wrap.
The city has set an $80,000 budget for the project, with applications available within its “Call for Artists” document, which provides more detailed information on the effort. The deadline for proposals has been set for July 18, 2025. The art must be original โ no AI or borrowed content allowed โ and should be aimed at celebrating the stories, culture, and spirit of Boca Raton’s downtown district.
The finished product is planned to depict architectural features of the amphitheater, historical and contemporary elements of Boca Raton as a whole, community stories and cultural ties to the area, and capture a theme with a lasting cultural impact.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-November, and will adorn the 30-foot high by 60-foot wide doors.
