A Boca Raton mom allegedly tazed her daughter’s ex-boyfriend after finding him in bed at their home, according to a report filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident played out Wednesday at a residential home in unincorporated Boca Raton. The suspect in the case, Veronica Karlsson, 55, initially called police herself to report – seemingly without evidence – that her daughter’s boyfriend was “on drugs” and had a warrant out for his arrest. But when Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies arrived, they spotted the boyfriend, whose name has been withheld, walking down the street after leaving the residence. He told officers that Karlsson had used a stun gun on him before he left.

Deputies then interviewed Karlsson, who said she woke up and opened the door to her daughter’s bedroom and noticed the ex-boyfriend sleeping there. She told police that she ordered him to leave, and when he did not leave immediately, she retrieved a Taser stun gun device. She said the ex-boyfriend appeared to be in “a daze,” and she called police.

In another interview, Karlsson’s daughter told deputies that she allowed her ex-boyfriend to stay over, and after she entered the room, neither of them could leave since she was blocking the door and was armed with the Taser device. The ex-boyfriend, she said, agreed to leave immediately, but Karlsson allegedly began “counting down” and used the Taser on him as he was still getting dressed.

A cell phone video recorded the incident, the police report said, and showed Karlsson allegedly “repeatedly activating the taser in a dry-stun manner on [the victim] while he was on the bed.” A “dry stun” is a phrase used to describe physically placing the device against another person’s body and activating it. The victim told police he was tased five or six times.

Karlsson was charged with carrying a prohibited weapon. She was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and released after posting $250 cash bond.
