Boca Raton’s Fire Rescue service will offer a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program beginning May 5, providing residents with skills to prepare for and respond to emergencies, the city announced this week.
The four-week course, based on a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) curriculum, is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge to assist themselves and others during natural or man-made disasters until first responders arrive.
Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and run through May 28.
Participants will receive hands-on training in fire suppression, light search and rescue, first aid and victim triage. The program aims to strengthen community readiness by enabling residents to support their neighbors during emergencies. Registration is available online at https://www.myboca.us/2392/CERT.
