Boca Raton has announced a pilot of an expanded shuttle service to the barrier island, including new options to get to the beach, marinas and resorts.

Running through Sept. 30, 2026, the pilot program expands the service area south of Boca Raton Inlet, providing residents and visitors with transportation to a larger portion of the city’s barrier-island beaches, residential communities, the Waterstone Resort & Marina, and restaurants. The expansion is separate from another pilot program that is testing the use of autonomous vehicles in the downtown sector; this pilot utilizes existing Boca Connect service vehicles.

During the pilot program, the expanded service area for the summer is the green area on the map attached to this story. Free rides remain available for trips that begin and end within the red service area, and trips between the red and blue/green service areas are $2 per rider, with each additional passenger just $1, up to $5 per one-way trip.

Trips must begin or end within the red service area. Service is not available for trips that both begin and end within the blue/green service areas, the city said. BocaConnect is an on-demand shuttle service operated through the Ride Circuit app, “providing a convenient and affordable transportation option throughout Boca Raton,” the announcement said.
