A dispute between a West Boca man and a person renting a room from him devolved to an altercation involving two knives – and ultimately landed the landlord in jail.

The incident played out Dec. 11, 2025 in the Kensington Walk apartment complex off Palmetto Park Road, when Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, the alleged victim in the case told police that his roommate, identified as Fernando Luisi, 41, a Brazilian national, told him via text message that he needed to vacate the premises by the end of the month since it was being rented to someone else, to which he refused.

According to the police report, the victim told police that when he returned to the apartment, Luisi appeared holding two knives, “and began chasing him in the parking lot towards his vehicle,” allegedly after trying to stab him. He said he backed away while recording the incident on his mobile phone before leaving the area and contacting law enforcement.

Deputies, in the report, said they reviewed the video, which showed Luisi “walking back toward the apartment with a knife in his right hand” before entering the apartment and locking the door. The victim then unlocked the door with his key, the video alleged showed, at which time Luisi “was seen attempting to stab [him] twice with the knife.”

Luisi was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on $50,000 bond.
