Boca Raton officials announced late Tuesday that the Florida Department of Health of Palm Beach County has posted a swim advisory for Spanish River Park Beach.
A recent sampling showed elevated bacterial levels in the water, the announcement said. While swimming is prohibited, the beach itself remains open for access. Swim advisories, in Florida, are posted when bacteria levels reach 71 or more colony forming units per 100 milliliters of water.
Additional water samples will be taken and it is hoped full use of the beach may resume within the next 24 to 48 hours, the city said in its announcement.
