A motor vehicle crash Sunday night on Yamato Road in unincorporated Boca Raton cost a New York woman her life and left two others injured – one in critical condition.
The accident occurred at 5:37 p.m. at the intersection on Yamato Road and Lakeridge Boulevard – west of Lyons Road – Sunday evening. According to a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata being driven by Miguel Ulloa, 63, of Boca Raton, was traveling westbound on Yamato Road, and was in the left turn lane at the intersection with Lakeridge. Another vehicle, a 2022 Toyota Corolla being driven by Deborah Ann Strebel, of Boca Raton, 69, of Boca Raton, was traveling eastbound on Yamato.
According to the police report, the Hyundai in the turning lane made its left turn into the path of the Toyota, causing the crash. A passenger in the Hyundai, Marina Villalobos, 84, of Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y. was pronounced deceased about an hour later. Ulloa, the driver, suffered “serious” injuries while Strebel was listed in critical conditions at a local hospital.
Deputies did not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
