A Boca Raton man was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly threatening another driver with a wrench following a fender bender on Glades Road, police said.

Luis Felipe Marin, 54, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an minor traffic accident near 1500 W. Glades Road – the area where Glades intersects with I-95. Boca Raton police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the location at approximately 5:27 p.m. on April 19.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in court, neither driver wished to file a formal accident report, but a verbal altercation allegedly ensued between the two motorists. The victim, whose name has been withheld, told police that during the argument, Marin allegedly produced a wrench and charged at him.

Video footage of the confrontation, provided to law enforcement by a passenger in the victim’s vehicle, allegedly captured Marin retrieving a wrench from his car, advancing toward the victim, and making threatening statements. The accused can allegedly be heard on the video saying, “I’m going to hit you with something” and “come on”. During the dispute, the victim reportedly told Marin that he was going to go to jail, to which Marin allegedly responded, “I know,” multiple times.

Following the initial crash investigation, Marin allegedly admitted to becoming angry and taking the wrench from his vehicle, but denied directly threatening the other driver. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting $4,000 bond.
