A 23-year-old man previously issued a trespass warning for a Barnes & Noble store in Boca Raton was arrested Monday on charges of trespassing and two counts of retail theft from two different stores in the same shopping center, according to a police report.
Jonathan Ramsay, with no permanent address but residing in Boca Raton, was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. May 12 at the shopping center at 1400 W. Glades Road, police said. According to the report filed in court this week, store personnel at Barnes & Noble had previously issued Ramsay a trespass warning on Sept. 11, 2025. On Monday, security observed him inside the store despite the prior ban. An employee reported seeing Ramsay take merchandise into a restroom, where he allegedly opened packaging.
A store representative later viewed video and identified Ramsay as the person who removed a set of Witcher Dice valued at $25.56 without paying, the report stated. Police also linked him to the alleged theft of an Adornia bead and freshwater pearl necklace valued at $31.92 from the nearby Nordstrom Rack. The total value of the items was listed at $57.48.
Officers located Ramsay nearby, detained him and recovered the items, according to the report. A witness from Barnes & Noble made a positive identification during a show-up, police said. Video from Nordstrom Rack was pending review at the time of the report.
Ramsay was transported to the Boca Raton Police Department for processing and then to the Palm Beach County Jail. He remained there Thursday in lieu of $1,500 combined bail for the two theft charges and the single trespassing charge.
