A Boca Raton woman is facing charges after authorities say she left the scene of a crash that damaged a stop sign, and later allegedly assaulted an officer at the police station as she was being escorted out.
Allison Inberg, 47, was arrested May 23 following a hit-and-run incident in the 3400 block of St. Andrews Boulevard, according to Boca Raton police report filed in court this week. Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. after a witness reported seeing a white GMC Terrain strike a stop sign and continue driving from the scene. According to the witness account cited in police documents, Inberg was allegedly driving north on St. Andrews Boulevard when she made a “fast and wide” right turn onto NW 39th Street. She allegedly struck a stop sign, knocking it about 15-feet into nearby bushes, and then hit a small street pillar. Inberg reportedly stopped briefly, exited her vehicle while “yelling and cursing,” then got back in her car and continued driving.
The vehicle was later located at a residence in the 2400 block of Northwest 39th Street, where Inberg was identified as the driver, police said. The stop sign, owned by the city, sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage, the report said. Inberg was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, a misdemeanor.
While being prepared for transport from the booking area later that evening, Inberg allegedly resisted officers’ commands, struck an officer in the chest with a closed fist and continued to resist as officers attempted to gain control, according to a supplemental probable cause affidavit to support follow-on charges of battery and resisting an officer with violence. She was placed in a restraint device before being transported for medical clearance.
She was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail where she was later released after posting a combined $4,000 bond.
