Driver Faces Felony Charge in Boca Raton Hit-and-Run

A 51-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly fled a two-vehicle crash that caused injuries at a Boca Raton intersection, then later contacted police and turned himself in, according to a Boca Raton police affidavit.

Liber Idael Victoria, of West Palm Beach, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, a third-degree felony, and driving with a license that had been expired for more than six months, police said. He was taken to Boca Raton Regional Hospital for medical clearance and then booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

Police said the crash was reported about 9:11 a.m. Wednesday at Clint Moore Road and NW Broken Sound Parkway. According to the affidavit, a white GMC van traveling westbound allegedly ran a steady red light and struck a white Lincoln Nautilus that was turning left onto Clint Moore Road. The van did not stop and left the scene westbound on Clint Moore Road, police said. A witness later told authorities the van turned north onto Military Trail and pulled into the parking lot of South County Mental Health, about 2.7 miles from the crash site. The driver got out and left the vehicle there, the affidavit said.

Delray Beach police found the van unoccupied in that lot about 9:36 a.m., according to Boca Raton police.

Investigators said a witness later identified Victoria in a photo lineup as the man seen leaving the van. About 10:41 a.m., a man who identified himself as the driver called Boca Raton police, said he had been driving the van and wanted to turn himself in, the affidavit said.

Victoria arrived at the Boca Raton Police Department about 12:51 p.m., police said. After being advised of his rights, he told investigators he left because he was nervous about the fact that his license was not valid, according to the affidavit. He said he drove west on Clint Moore Road, then north on Military Trail, parked at the mental health facility and later got a ride home from a “random person” who stopped.

Police estimated vehicle damage at $15,000. The affidavit described the case as a hit-and-run involving injuries but did not identify the person or persons hurt in the crash, nor the extent of their injuries. Victoria is accused of willfully leaving the scene of a crash that caused injury and of knowingly driving with a license that police said had been expired since 2025. He remained lodged in the Palm Beach County Jail on Saturday in lieu of $6,000 combined bail on the two charges.
