Boca Raton officials announced Tuesday that the Florida Department of Health of Palm Beach County has posted a Health Advisory for Spanish River Park Beach. A recent sampling showed elevated bacterial levels in the water and, as a precaution, swimming at Spanish River Beach is prohibited “until further notice.”
The DOH conducted its sampling Dec. 29, 2025 and found Enterococcus bacteria at a count more than the 70.5 colony forming units considered safe under state environment regulations. Swimming is prohibited until further notice, however the park and beach will remain open. Additional water samples will be taken within a day, and it is hoped that full use of the beach may resume within the next 24 to 48 hours.
