Boca Daily News was founded by award-winning journalist Daniel Nee, a city resident and digital pioneer who created Hurricanes.net, was a founding editor and supervisor at Patch/AOL, and worked previously for The Press of Atlantic City and WMGM-TV NBC 40, also in Atlantic City. After moving on from a successful run at Patch where he oversaw the highest-traffic sites in the 1,200-site network, he founded Shorebeat, a network of local news websites covering the Jersey Shore region. He then expanded the network of local news websites to his home in South Florida.

Daniel especially enjoys reporting on government, politics, land use and development projects, as well as boating, fishing and coastal issues. He is also an avid boater and enjoys fishing and watersports. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Monmouth University and an M.A. in Public Policy, also from Monmouth, and is currently pursuing a law degree. He also holds a certificate from Rutgers University in municipal budgeting practices, has worked with government officials and redevelopers, and has sat on the Stakeholder Advisory Board of the Sea Grant Consortium as well as the Board of Directors of the Brick Township Chamber of Commerce in Brick Township, N.J.
