A 30-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Delray Beach on Monday, as police continue to ask for the public’s help in locating his killer.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound at the Bi-Lo Market, located at 24 NW 8th Avenue, at about 11:30 a.m. Monday. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Timmy Hayes, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said Tuesday.

“Preliminary findings suggest that this was a targeted attack, and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” police said in a statement.

The suspect, described as an “unknown male,” fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The department has obtained surveillance images of the suspect and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him. The images were released to the press and via social media Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect was last seen wearing “distinctive clothing,” as captured in the photos. Community members are encouraged to pay particular attention to these unique details, police said. The suspect’s hooded sweatshirt read: “Pray About It As Much As You Think About It.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspect’s identity is urged to contact Detective Kyle Kinney at 561-243-7828.
