Motorists across Palm Beach County may notice an increase in law enforcement presence Monday and Tuesday, with officers from the Sheriff’s Office carrying out two special details to enforce laws on speeding in school zones and child seat safety.

The first detail, on Monday, will be a countywide operation to identify speeding and aggressive driving in various school zones. According to a statement from PBSO, the effort will focus on numerous school zones across Palm Beach County, aiming to enforce state laws regarding speeding and aggressive driving. Additionally, it serves as an educational campaign to raise public awareness about the dangers of excessive speed and aggressive driving behaviors, the office said.

The operation will be held between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m Monday.

The second detail, Tuesday, will focus on child seats and restraints in vehicles, as well as regular seatbelt enforcement. Another countywide effort, yhe purpose of the operation is to conduct “high-visibility, zero-tolerance enforcement of all Florida State Statutes regarding seat belt usage and child safety restraints.” Another part of the campaign is to educate the public on the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt or securing a child in a properly installed car seat and safety belt.

The locations of the enforcement will be the “major roadways” in Palm Beach County, though specific roadways that will be targeted for enforcement were not announced.

Officers will be carrying out the operation from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
