A 39-year-old man was arrested early Thursday in the downtown area on charges that include trying to kick a police officer after he allegedly was screaming profanities and throwing flower pots.
Jordan B. Eske, who does not have a known address, was charged with disorderly intoxication, resisting an officer without violence and assault on a law enforcement officer. All three are misdemeanors. According to the report, police responded at about 12:41 a.m. to the area outside the Ichiyami Buffet & Sushi restaurant after a report of an intoxicated man trying to fight another person.
The report said Eske was yelling profanities and throwing a decorative plant around the lot โin an aggressive and disorderly manner.โ Police had also responded around 7:33 p.m. Wednesday to the Trader Joeโs location at 855 S. Federal Highway, where they received two calls about an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. The reports state that Eske was recognized from that call as he was leaving.
After he was arrested on the disorderly intoxication charge, Eske repeatedly refused commands to cooperate with a search and went limp, physically hindering the arrest, according to the reports. He did, however, allegedly admit he was intoxicated, claiming to be “messed up.”
While officers were securing Eske in a patrol vehicle, he was lying down facing away from one of them when he allegedly tried to kick the officer, the reports state. The officer grabbed Eskeโs leg, and the kick did not make contact, according to the reports.
He remained lodged in the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday in lieu of $3,000 combined bail on the three charges.
