A 46-year-old man was arrested early Sunday on charges of assaulting a security officer and possessing cocaine after an altercation at nightclub business in Boca Raton, according to police.

Mehmet Oncu Uner, 46, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody around 1:46 a.m. May 10 following a reported disturbance at Cosmo’s Nightclub and Lounge on SE 1st Avenue, just east of Federal Highway, Boca Raton police said in a report filed with the court this week.

Officers said Uner had been trespassed from the property and was asked to leave when he allegedly became aggressive toward the security officer. The officer told investigators that Uner threatened to kill him, said he would “f-ck him up with his hands,” and struck him on the arm while moving toward him, the report stated. No visible injuries were observed.

Witnesses told police Uner was yelling, “getting in [the security officer’s] face,” and acting aggressively as multiple people intervened to separate the two, the report said. Uner told officers he had “exchanged words” with the security guard and invited him to “come outside” but denied putting his hands on him, according to the report.

While searching Uner after he was taken into custody, officers said they found a small baggie containing a white powdery substance in his back right pants pocket. Uner is alleged to have told officers he believed it was cocaine that had been given to him by a friend. A field test using a cocaine detection kit reportedly turned positive, and the substance weighed 0.3 grams, police said.

Uner was charged with possession of cocaine and assault on a security officer. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posing $5,000 combined bail for the two charges.
