A Boca Raton man has been charged with battery after allegedly spitting on a cable utility worker after he became enraged over supplies leaning on his hedges.

Brody Shulman, 38, was arrested after police were called to a home on Alzira Circle after the 36-year-old worker called to report the incident on July 10, 2025. Shulman was formally charged with the offense last week. According to a report filed in Palm Beach County circuit court, Shulman is alleged to have gotten upset after the worker, working for Hotwire Communications, was “temporarily leaning supplies on his hedges” while installing fiber optic cable on the street.

Shulman, the report said, allegedly walk into the street toward the installer and began recording him within one foot of his face. He told police that Shulman began to follow him down the street as he was going towards his work w vehicle and, while standing next to the truck, “intentionally spat directly on his left shoulder, with saliva also making contact with the left side of his face.” Shulman then left the location, “jogging back into his residence,” the report stated.

Two witnesses corroborated “most of the events,” according to the report, however they could not confirm whether the saliva made contact with the worker. They reported Shulman allegedly spitting downward toward the man’s legs.

Shulman is facing a charge of simple battery. He spent about 13 hours in the Palm Beach County jail before being released in $1,000 bond.
