A Boca Raton woman with a history of convictions for petty and retail theft was arrested after two incidents at the Walmart store on U.S. 441 (SR-7) in West Boca involving shoplifting – both on the same day.
According to a police report, Amanda Lynn Farino, 34, of Boca Raton, was charged with felony petit theft committed by a person with two or more previous convictions following an incident that occurred Sept. 12 just after 7 p.m. The report said Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the store after a woman was seen stuffing items in a bag and leaving the store without paying.
A loss prevention officer told deputies the same woman had been observed earlier in the day taking items and, presumably, leaving without paying for them. At the time the second incident occurred, about two hours after the first, store security guards confronted the woman, later identified as Farino, but she allegedly fled on a bicycle before deputies arrived. According to the report, the suspect used the same pink bag to take items from the store twice, as confirmed by surveillance video.
Farino, the report stated, was later identified by the probation officer handling her stemming from several previous convictions for misdemeanor theft, as well as another officer who responded to a BOLO issued for a person matching her description. The loss prevention officer told deputies the value of the items stolen was $660.
Farino was lodged in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
