The weekend brought rough surf to Palm Beach County beaches, driven by a strong southeast wind that also brought mounds of sea grass to the shoreline.

The National Weather Service issued a rip current advisory for the region Saturday, which will continue through Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.

“A high risk of rip currents will continue for the Atlantic beaches through the end of this weekend before decreasing early next week as winds veer offshore,” the advisory statement said. “Hazardous marine conditions could return to the region behind a frontal passage early next week.”

The NWS predicted sunny skies with a high of 82 degrees Sunday, but winds are forecast to continue from the southeast at speeds of 13-15 m.p.h., with guests to 22 m.p.h. Offshore, gusts could be slightly higher, with seas running 3-4 feet.
