A Delray Beach man who was reported missing since Sept. 16 was found deceased in his vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center Sunday afternoon.

Christopher Hendrix, 24, had last been seen on surveillance footage at Global Mart, a convenience store located at 2200 Seacrest Boulevard in Delray Beach, just before he went missing. He was driving a silver 2007 Lexus GS300, but did not return home after several days, prompting his family to call police. Police then issued a public statement asking for additional information on his whereabouts.

During a phone call with his mother shortly before his disappearance, Hendrix “mentioned he was feeling light-headed, and shortly after, his phone was turned off and he could no longer be reached,” police said in a statement.

On Sunday afternoon, Hendrix was found deceased in his vehicle in a shopping center parking lot at 4953 W. Atlantic Avenue, located near the intersection of Military Trail.

“Our hearts go out to Christopher’s family and loved ones as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” Delray Beach police said in a statement Monday.

The investigation has been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
