A Boynton Beach man has been charged with murdering two people and injuring another in a shooting outside a Boca Raton oceanfront hotel on Friday.

Boca Raton police said in a statement that De’Vante Moss, 30, was arrested after he was stopped by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office in Laurens County, Georgia, where he apparently traveled after the shooting.

According to police, Moss’ vehicle is connected to the double homicide that occurred just before 5 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the 365Ocean hotel, located at 365 North Ocean Boulevard. Witnesses on scene told officers the a suspect fled in a silver Jaguar, and through video surveillance, Boca Raton Police detectives determined the vehicle was no longer in the area. Detectives were, however, able to obtain the license plate number and the vehicle was entered into a nationwide law enforcement database as a wanted vehicle in connection with the homicide investigation.

On scene, detectives spoke with witnesses and gathered video evidence, who provided information about the events leading up to the shooting that left two victims dead, and one victim hospitalized. Moments before the shooting, the suspect was seen exiting one of the hotel rooms and running with a purse. A woman, who exited the same room, was seen running after the suspect and demanding her belongings.

As the suspect attempted to get into the driver’s seat of the Jaguar, he struggled with the woman, said Officer Jessica Desir. Two males then intervened and, during the altercation, the suspect raised a firearm and shot the woman and two males, before fleeing the area.

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Moss, the registered owner of the Jaguar.

Boca Raton Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Moss and he is currently being held in Laurens County, GA awaiting extradition to the Palm Beach County Jail. Moss is charged with two counts of first degree murder with a firearm and one count of attempted first degree murder with a firearm.

No photograph of Moss was available. The identities of the deceased victims have not yet been released as next of kin notifications are in process, police said.

Anyone with information about the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Detective Dale Graham at 561-620-6175.
