The driver of a vehicle in a crash that killed four Boca Raton residents has been charged with four counts of vehicular homicide after an investigation found her at fault in the accident, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday.
Jazmin Shope, 21, of Auburndale, Polk County, was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Tuesday afternoon. She was the driver of a 2013 Ford Taurus that struck a 2017 Genesis G90 on April 21, 2025 at 8:57 p.m., killing all four of its occupants. Shope was being held without bail.
According to an accident report, Shope was traveling southbound “at a high rate of speed” within the inner through-lane of South Military Trail approaching the entrance to the Polo Club Shops in Delray Beach. Her vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the Genesis, which was traveling northbound within the left turn lane for the shopping center, and was in the process of turning left into the parking lot. The vehicle had entered into the inner through-lane for southbound South Military Trail, deputies said.
The Genesis impacted a concrete utility pole before coming to a final rest with significant damage to the cabin. Shope’s vehicle came to a final rest south of the Genesis, against a shrub line, where the engine compartment began to be engulfed by fire. Shope suffered “serious” injuries in the crash, as did her passenger, Ethan Ryan Litman, 23, of Delray Beach.
The Genesis was being driven by James Lawrence Rose, 88; with passengers Gerald A Levy, 91; Thelma Illson Levy, 94; and Arlene Rose, 87. All four victims were Boca Raton residents.
