Stunning Sunset Ushers in Breezy-But-Beautiful Week in South Florida, Rip Current Risk Remains

A sunset that peaked out from below a spotty cloud layer was the first sign of what is forecast to be an overall good weather week in South Florida, despite some breezy conditions and a linger risk of rip currents at local beaches. BocaDailyNews’ cameras caught the sunset – granted, an early one at 5:32 p.m. as the days grow shorter – Sunday night at Boynton Inlet and along the beach walk in Delray Beach. We hope you enjoy the view.

While nature’s beauty was on display, it’s wrath remained a risk in the ocean, the National Weather Service said. A rip current advisory remained in effect until 7 p.m. Monday.

“Dangerous” rip currents was expected during the day Monday in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, the NWS warned.

“Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water,” the announcement said. “Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.”

Overall, a near-perfect weather week was on tap despite the usual risk of a stray storm in a localized area. Monday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 85 with relatively calm winds and only a slight chance of showers. Winds will move 6-9 m.p.h.

Breezier conditions move in Tuesday, when the NWS forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 85. Northeast winds are forecast at 6 to 14 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h.

On Wednesday, it will be sunny and 82 degrees, but windy, with a northeast wind 18 to 21 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 29 m.p.h. Mostly sunny skies will continue Thursday, with a high near 81, but a nagging east wind around 14 m.p.h. is forecast, with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Friday is forecast to be sunny, with a high near 82. Northeast winds will move 10 to 13 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 18 m.p.h.
